JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent receives and schedules patients for treatment in the Dental Clinic; which includes patients for surgical procedures, prosthetic, endodontic, periodontal and restorative treatment. Performs chair side duties in all phases of restorative, prosthodontics, surgical, endodontic, and periodontal treatment.

The incumbent receives and schedules patients for treatment in the Dental Clinic; which includes patients for surgical procedures, prosthetic, endodontic, periodontal and restorative treatment. Performs chair side duties in all phases of restorative, prosthodontics, surgical, endodontic, and periodontal treatment. Requires assistant to make significantly more difficult preparations, and requires the assistant to attend more closely to patient condition. Performs various radiographic duties. Obtains record information related to medical history of the patient, routes patients for medical tests and services when required, takes and records blood pressure and pulse. Responsible for entering AMIS data and CPT codes into VISTA. Maintains operatories in a clean, operative condition free of obvious areas of pathogens. Establishes work environment consistent with universal precautions and OSHA standards. Cleans and gets instruments and equipment ready for sterilization.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Candidates must be citizens of the United States. One year of specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the GS-4 level. Specialized experience is experience in dental assistance to general or specialized dentistry, dental assistant (expanded function) work, or any combination of these appropriate to the position OR successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in a dental assistant or dental hygiene program that included at least 24 semester hours, i.e. coursework in radiation physics; radiation biology; radiation health, safety, and protection; X-ray films and radiographic film quality, radiographic techniques; darkroom and processing techniques; and film mounting.
