The Hospice Quality Improvement Nurse will be responsible for
  • Provides up front review of admission documentation
  • Utilize tools to determine areas for improvement on OASIS and other documents
  • Acts as a resource to clinical staff regarding OASIS, comprehensive assessment and POC documentation
  • Provides education and training regarding documentation and the required components
  • Ensure federal and state regulations are observed
  • Review/Complete chart audits
  • Ensures appropriate ICD-9 Coding and sequencing

Requirements
Required Skills
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse strongly preferred or LPN with 5 years relevant experience and 1-2 years of homecare/hospice experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Oasis and ICD-9 coding. OASIS certification strongly preferred; OASIS certification must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire. Hospice ICD-9 coding certification preferred
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and state licensure requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computer systems
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and educate others
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Detail oriented and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
