POSITION PURPOSE
Facilitate the examination of outpatients and contribute to their care by; preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, scheduling tests, maintaining patient records, performing limited procedures, assisting physicians during the exam, and assist in maintain equipment while prioritizing workload and handling a variety of activities simultaneously.

Facilitate the examination of outpatients and contribute to their care by; preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, scheduling tests, maintaining patient records, performing limited procedures, assisting physicians during the exam, and assist in maintain equipment while prioritizing workload and handling a variety of activities simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Prepare patient exam rooms and equipment and select instruments using aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Escort patient to exam room, obtain brief history and vital signs. Update electronic medical record for physician review, maintaining confidentiality following MCW and HIPPA regulations.
- Perform immunizations, injections, venipuncture, urinalysis and other procedures, completing necessary documentation. Package specimens to be sent to lab for analysis.
- Assist physician, physician assistants, and residents with patient exams and procedures.
- Greet and register clinic patients. Obtain and/or update registration information and referrals or authorizations as necessary. Obtain medical records when indictated.
- Schedule clinic appointments, ancillary tests and maintain appropriate scheduling information.
- Triage incoming clinic phone calls to appropriate area. When necessary, record accurate messages and distribute to appropriate area.
- Clean and stock patient exam rooms. Clean, sterilize and maintain equipment.
- Provide coverage to other areas of the clinic including phototherapy as needed.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High School Diploma ;
- Experience: 2 years medical assisting experience or graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program;
- Certifications/Licenses: Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Possess a high degree of flexibility, ability to maintain a calm & professional demeanor, experience with sterile technique, medical instruments & equipment, must exercise good judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people under stressful conditions.
- Ability to utilize all computer applications which apply to work flow.
