Medical Assistant--SAN RAFAEL, Planned Parenthood - California

SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant is responsible for creating and maintaining the efficient and client-service driven operation of the Health Clinic.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to consistently model and apply agency House Rules in the performance of job duties and responsibilities.
• Acceptance and application of the confidential nature of the position.
• Ability to work under pressure and successfully meet deadlines.
• Ability to relate professionally and sensitively to staff, board, clients and public.
  
• Must be able to tolerate a high level of physical activity and client-staff interaction.
• Must be available to work all sites throughout the agency as assigned by supervisor.
• Good communication (verbal and written) skills in a customer service oriented manner.
• Ability to operate office machines such as cash register, Medi-Cal verification and bank machines.
• Ability to utilize short-term counseling skills, and to assist in surgical and or medical procedures.
• Ability to work in an effective and sensitive manner with diverse populations.
• Ability to discuss sexuality and other sensitive issues in a non-judgmental manner.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited Medical or Nursing Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Schedule may include evenings and weekends. Current schedule will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday only with the possibility of a 4-5 day per week schedule in the future.
