QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate of Arts Degree or 2 years equivalent experience in a business related field preferred. High School Diploma/GED required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years experience in medical/dental office with supervisory experience preferred. Three or more years of experience performing four-handed dental assisting preferred. Knowledge of medical records management with skill and knowledge of computers preferred.
- Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Registration as a Dental Assistant (WA only). State certification as a Dental Assistant (Oregon only). All employees, CPR certification within 3 months of employment and AIDS education within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Abilities include working with children; planning, coordinating and supervising the work of others; tactfully and courteously communicating with the public, patients and staff. Knowledge regarding infection control techniques, Basic Life Support and emergency access. Preferred: Reading and writing dental and some medical terminology and having knowledge in dental anatomy, materials and instruments; assisting the dentist or hygienist with patient care and provide oral health care instructions; exposing radiographs and mounting them at a diagnostically acceptable level; and the ability to perform four-handed dental assisting including instrument transfer, oral evacuation, cement mixing and spatulation.
