Duties (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
- Escorts patients to room and assists in determining medical problem.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
- Takes patient histories and vital signs.
- Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and/or testing.
- Stocks supplies.
- Gives injections and applies splints and dressing.
- Assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
- Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Assist in the referral process.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred; graduation from an accredited MOA program required.
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
- Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications.
- Skill in taking vital signs.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, patients and co-workers.
- Current healthcare level CPR certification required.
- Must be flexible, quick learner.
- Ability to multi-task and float to any position.
- Surgery experience preferred.
