Responsibilities
The sucessful candidate will
- Assist the dentist during examination and treatment of patients.
- Perform certain inter-oral tasks in response to specific instructions from and under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
- Prepares operatory with appropriate instruments and material for the patients scheduled to be seen.
- Assists dentist during treatment, providing instruments, material, retraction, or suction.
- Mixes and fabricates restorative materials.
- Sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatory between patients.
- Develops and mounts routine radiographs.
- Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assists in the clinical procedures of prostatic dentistry.
- Assists in maintaining dental charts and records dental findings. Schedules patients for dental appointments.
- Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
- Inventories and orders supplies to maintain proper levels.
- Assists in screening dental emergencies.
- Ability to deal with and respond to stressful situations in a stressful environment.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have current Dental radiation technician certification from the State of Alabama.
