The Medical Assistant I provides general back office support to professional staff. Escort patients to exam rooms. Knowledge of medical back office procedures. Answer phone messages from patients promptly. Maintains medical records.
- Obtain patient and family medical history, social history and other information required by physician/provider for patient evaluation as evidenced through documentation and audit.
- Assist provider with exams as needed.
- Must be well versed in applying first aid to patients as needed, sterile techniques, proper handling of contaminated body fluids and use of proper body mechanics.
- Performs needed communication activities to assure patient communication is timely.
- Completes the referral process on behalf of patients on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate from an accredited medical assistant program, or
- Completion of an unapproved medial assistant training program and successful passing of a medical assistant examination administered by either the American Association of Medical Assistants or the American Medical Technologists, or
- Prior to the effective date of the revised Administrative Code rules (2/1/00), completed an unapproved medical assistant training program and was employed as a medical assistant since completion of the program, or
- Prior to the effective date of the revised Administrative Code rules (2/1/00), was directly supervised by the same physician, group of physicians, or physician assistant for at least 2000 hours, or
- Completes a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States.
- 0-1 year Medical Assistant experience.
- BCLS with in 3months of hire date
