Talbert Medical Group - a leader in providing excellent medical care in Orange and LA counties has an immediate opportunity for an experienced part-time Medical Assistant I to join our nursing team at the TMG - Tustin medical center location!
As Medical Assistant I, primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
- Reviews patient records (EMR), interviews patients, measures vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, and records information in computer.
- Prepares treatment room for examination of patients, assists physician with procedures, cleans examination room and sterilizes appropriate equipment after use.
- Maintains patient's dignity by protecting the patient's right to privacy, confidentiality and safety.
- Administers prescribed medication orally or by injection, after a physician, RN or LVN has verified the correct dosage and medication.
- Documents time, dosage, and route.. Performs electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments and operates other equipment when necessary.
- Follows the policy and procedure for the DKA process (when patients do not keep their appointment).
- Communicates to the front office and patients the status of the approximate provider wait time on an hourly basis.
- Schedules patients for routine diagnostic tests and appointments per policy and procedure.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have High School diploma, Medical Assistant certificate from recognized school, current CPR with minimum 2-3 years of Medical Assistant experience (injections,breathing treatments, glucose checks, immunizations) preferably in busy clinic environment, excellent organizational and patient care skills. Phlebotomy certification also required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred, electronic medical records (EPIC) experience a plus! CA
